Dear friends and colleagues,The annual ‘GIS in Central Asia’ Conference now has opened its 2016 Call for Papers and registration. The conference is scheduled for April 28-30 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The main objectives of this English language conference are to bring together GIS academics, researchers and practitioners from the Central Asian and other countries and to encourage international cooperation and knowledge exchange in GIS education.
In 2016, GISCA is focused on the theme of "Green Spaces: Perspectives and Designs". GIScience as a conceptual foundation, Geoinformatics as a methodology and GIS as software are powerful instruments for linking information from different sources by location. This is exactly what is needed to manage our environments and natural resources, and to assess risks arising from natural, technical and social factors.
Key themes (but not limited, any new themes and sessions are welcome ) of the conference are:
GISCA 2016 is being organized by the Austria-Central Asia Centre for GIScience (ACA*GIScience) jointly with I.Arabaev Kyrgyz State University Research Centre for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Bishkek), the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography CAS, the Institute of Geology NAS KR and the OeAW Commission for GIScience. The conference will be supported by the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet, Trimble Navigation International Ltd and several sponsors from the Geoinformatics industry.
The programme committee accepts scientific papers on the stated conference themes with a focus on the Central Asian Region. Active participation in the conference is invited via presentation of a paper or poster, or through workshop attendance.
Accepted papers in English will be reviewed published in the proceedings volume of GISCA 2016.
