The Austria-Central Asia Centre for GIScience, together with XIEG-CAS and the I.Arabaev Kyrgyz State University are proud to announce the: 

GIS-in-Central-Asia Conference - GISCA 2016 

The main objectives of this English language conference are to bring together GIS academics, researchers and practitioners in the Central Asian countries and encourage international cooperation and knowledge exchange in GIS education. 
In 2016, GISCA is exploring the theme of "Green Spaces: Perspectives and Designs". GIScience as a conceptual foundation, Geoinformatics as a methodology and GIS as software are powerful instruments for linking information from different sources by location. This is exactly what is needed to manage our environments and natural resources, our societies and economies. 

Key themes (but not limited, any new themes and sessions are welcome) of the conference are: 
• GIS for Environmental Management 
• GIS for Regional Sustainable Development 
• GIS for Disaster and Emergency Management 
• GIS for Business and Logistics 
• GIS for Public Health 
• New Trends and Technologies in Surveying, Cadastre and Land Management 
• GIS and Ecosystem Modeling 
• Education programmes in Geoinformatics 
• International networking in teaching and use of GIS technologies 
• Development of Spatial Data Infrastructures 
• Remote Sensing Applications

GISCA 2016 is being organized by the I.Arabaev Kyrgyz State University and Austria-Central Asia Centre for GIScience (ACA*GIScience) jointly with Research Centre for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Bishkek), Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography CAS, Institute of Geology NAS KR and the OeAD Commission for GIScience. The conference will be supported by the Trimble Navigation International Ltd, Eurasia-Pacific Uninet and several sponsors from the Geoinformatics industry. 

The conference committee accepts scientific papers on the stated conference themes with a focus on the Central Asian Region. Active participation in the conference is invited via presentation of a paper or poster, or through workshop attendance. Accepted papers in English will be reviewed published in the proceedings volume of GISCA 2016. We request to disseminate the CfP to all interested GIS educators and professionals.
